Nivra Therapy – Counselling and therapy for adults, youth, and children

Neurodivergent-Affirming Therapy

In-person in Vancouver, or online.

Being autistic or having ADHD isn’t something to fix — it’s a different way of thinking, feeling, and moving through the world. I offer neurodivergent-affirming therapy for autistic and ADHD adults, children, and youth, whether you have a formal diagnosis, are self-identified, or are still exploring what neurodivergence means for you

A first language, not a translated one

For clients navigating trauma tied to migration, displacement, or experiences from before life in Canada, sessions are available in Portuguese and Spanish — because some of what the body is holding was never named in English to begin with.

What this work can help with

My approach doesn’t try to make you fit a neurotypical mould. Instead, we work together to understand how your brain and nervous system actually function, and build support that honours that — not one that asks you to mask or push through. This can include:

  • Processing the grief, relief, or identity shift that can come with a late diagnosis
  • Unlearning years of masking and people-pleasing
  • Sensory-aware, trauma-informed support for children and youth navigating school, family, and social expectations
  • Practical, shame-free tools for executive functioning, routines, and burnout
  • Support for parents and families adjusting to a child’s diagnosis or identity

How this is Different From a "Fix-It" Approach

Many approaches to autism and ADHD focus on managing symptoms or teaching people to appear more “typical.” That’s not what happens here. Instead of asking you to mask, suppress, or push through, we focus on understanding your nervous system, your sensory needs, and your unique way of processing the world — and building support around that, not against it.

Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ

Do I need a formal diagnosis to start therapy?

No. Many clients come to this work self-identified, exploring whether autism or ADHD fits their experience, or already diagnosed. We can work together at whatever stage you’re at — including if you’re seeking an assessment or referral.

Do you work with both adults and children?

Yes. I support neurodivergent adults, children, and youth, with approaches adapted to each person’s age and developmental stage — including play- and expressive arts-based methods for younger clients

What does “neurodivergent-affirming” actually mean?

It means we don’t treat autism or ADHD as something to fix or hide. The goal isn’t to make you appear more neurotypical — it’s to understand how your brain and nervous system actually work, and build support, tools, and self-understanding around that.

I think I might be autistic or have ADHD but I’m not sure. Can you still help?

Yes. Many clients begin here while still exploring what neurodivergence means for them, without a diagnosis or a clear label. This is a safe space to explore that question without pressure.

Is this available online, or only in person?

Both —in-person in Vancouver, or online.
