Family Therapy
In-person in Vancouver, or online.
Every family gets stuck sometimes — the same argument on repeat, the same silence after it, the same feeling that nobody’s really being heard.
Family therapy isn’t about deciding who’s right. It’s a space to understand the patterns your family has fallen into, and to build new ones — together, with someone outside the system helping you see it clearly.
Support for families navigating change
Becoming a parent far from the family you grew up with, blending two households into one, or simply hitting a rough patch as kids grow — family life brings changes nobody hands you a manual for. Sessions are available in Portuguese and Spanish for families who want to work through this in the language they think and feel in.
Parenting Support
Parenting is hard even in the best circumstances, and even harder without family close by to lean on. This work focuses on:
- Navigating behavioural changes, school difficulties, or a child’s big emotions
- Co-parenting after separation, or blending parenting styles across two households
- Setting boundaries and routines that actually hold
- Rebuilding connection after a period of conflict or distance
- Parenting across cultures — raising kids bilingual or bicultural, and the friction that can bring
What family therapy can help with
- Communication breakdowns and recurring conflict
- Sibling relationships and rivalry
- Blended and step-family dynamics
- Major transitions — a move, a new baby, separation, loss
- Rebuilding trust after a rupture in the family
Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ
Do all family members need to attend every session?
No — sessions can involve the whole family, a few members, or shift depending on what’s being worked through at the time. We’ll figure out together what makes sense session to session.
Can we do family therapy if we live in different households?
Yes — this is common with separated or blended families, and sessions can be structured around co-parenting and communication across households.
Is this different from couples counselling?
Yes — family therapy focuses on the family system as a whole (parents, kids, siblings), rather than specifically the romantic relationship between two partners.
Is this available online, or only in person?
Both —in-person in Vancouver, or online.
